Missouri Valley University’s School of Business & Technology invites applications for Adjunct Instructor positions across multiple disciplines. We seek dedicated educators committed to excellence in teaching, student success, and the university’s mission. Both on-campus and online teaching opportunities are available.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned course(s) as scheduled and outlined in the contract.
  • Foster student success through engaging instruction and intellectual inquiry.
  • Develop and distribute a comprehensive syllabus aligned with institutional guidelines.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Provide timely feedback and support to students.
  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and administrators.
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks with accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Comply with all institutional policies, procedures, and requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the relevant discipline from an accredited institution is required.
  • A Terminal Degree (Ph.D., DBA, Ed.D., etc.) in the relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Previous college or university teaching experience is preferred.
  • Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to teach and engage with students for extended periods.
  • Capability to stand or sit for prolonged durations.
  • Regular attendance is essential.

  • Strong ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and diverse communities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in an online or in-person setting.
  • Commitment to professionalism and student-centered instruction.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (preferred).
  • Experience with Brightspace or similar Learning Management Systems (required).
  • Online instructors must complete the MVU Online Masterclass.

Work Environment

  • Online Instructors: Home office setting.
  • On-Campus Instructors: Classroom and office settings.

Required Technology (Online Instructors Only)

  • Desktop or laptop computer with webcam and microphone.
  • Reliable high-speed Internet connection (Chrome browser required).

Additional Information

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
  • Compensation varies by course, enrollment, and program type.
